Ferdinand is a 2017 American computer-animated comedy-drama film produced by Blue Sky Studios and distributed by 20th Century Fox. The film is based on Munro Leaf's 1936 children's book The Story of Ferdinand. It was directed by Carlos Saldanha from a screenplay by Robert L. Baird Tim Federle and Brad Copeland. The film stars the voices of John Cena Kate McKinnon Gina Rodriguez Daveed Diggs Anthony Anderson Gabriel Iglesias David Tennant Flula Borg and Sally Phillips. Ferdinand tells the story of a giant bull with a big heart who is mistaken for a dangerous beast and is taken away from his home to be trained for bullfighting in Madrid.
