The Big Sick tells the true story of Pakistan-born stand up comic Kumail, who connects with grad student Emily after one of his standup sets. What they thought was a one-night thing blossoms into the real thing, and is complicated by Kumail's traditional Muslim parents. Further complicating matters is Emily's mystery illness, which forces Kumail to navigate the crisis with her parents.
